Trump set the lowest refugee cap in U.S. history, 7,500, mostly reserved for Afrikaners, then later raised it for them alone.
What happened
Of refugees admitted through spring 2026, all but three Afghans were white South Africans. The cap under Biden had been 125,000. South Africa's government denies that Afrikaners are persecuted.
Where it stands
Presidents set the cap, so it's legal. It's a sharp break from decades of bipartisan refugee policy.
The administration's side
The administration says Afrikaners face racial discrimination and that grave humanitarian concerns justify admitting them.
