FBI seizes 2020 ballots in Georgia

Federal agents raided Fulton County's election warehouse and hauled away more than 600 boxes of 2020 ballots, ballot images and voter rolls.
What happened
Agents first arrived with an incorrect warrant. The raid came as Trump, who has long contested Georgia's 2020 results, said Republicans should 'nationalize' elections.
Where it stands
In May 2026 Judge J.P. Boulee refused to order the ballots returned while the investigation continues, though he criticized how the FBI obtained them and wrote that the seizure was not perfect. In April the Justice Department also subpoenaed the names and contact information of county employees and volunteers who worked the 2020 election.
The administration's side
The White House says the goal is accurate voter rolls, free of noncitizens, and full public confidence in elections. The FBI says it is investigating irregularities such as missing ballot images and duplicate ballots.
