Border agents kill ICU nurse Alex Pretti
Pending means: In court or under criminal investigation right now.
Seventeen days after Renee Good's death, federal agents in Minneapolis shot and killed Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care nurse.
What happened
ProPublica identified the shooters as a Border Patrol agent and a CBP officer. His family's lawyer calls it murder. Hennepin County has opened criminal investigations into 14 more incidents involving federal agents during the surge, and has charged two ICE agents over non-fatal incidents, one of them with assault for shooting Julio Sosa-Celis.
Where it stands
The Justice Department opened a civil rights investigation. The county's charging decision is pending and may fall to the next county attorney.
The administration's side
Trump said the shooting would of course be investigated. The FBI, Homeland Security and Border Patrol are each reviewing it.
